Lait de Vanille gourmand perfume

What is a gourmand perfume?

Vanilla, caramel, praline, coffee: discover the origins, signature notes and ways to wear a gourmand perfume without overdoing it.

Recognisable from the first spray, gourmand perfumes make the skin smell almost good enough to eat. Vanilla, caramel, praline, chocolate, coffee: this family has become one of the most popular in modern perfumery.

A family born in the 1990s

The gourmand family is relatively recent. Its origins are generally traced to Angel by Thierry Mugler in 1992, which boldly placed praline and candy floss at the heart of a major perfume. Niche perfumery has since reinvented it with more subtle, precious compositions, often blended with woods, spices or flowers.

Signature gourmand notes

  • Vanilla: the family’s queen, soft, warm and sometimes smoky.
  • Tonka bean: almond-like, slightly hay-like and enveloping.
  • Caramel, praline and sugar: unapologetic confectionery sweetness.
  • Coffee, cocoa and chocolate: darker notes, ideal for winter.
  • Milk, almond and coconut: milky and creamy facets.
  • Fruits: cherry, raspberry, peach and more, for brighter gourmands.

More than sweetness

Gourmand notes often combine with other families. Woods, oud and spices bring depth and sensuality; fruits add sparkle. That is why our product pages describe facets such as “woody gourmand” or “fruity gourmand”.

Gourmands at L’Atelier

  • Vicebomb by Simone Andreoli: cherry, caramel and vanilla, unapologetically gourmand.
  • Lait de Vanille by Chabaud: tender, comforting vanilla milk caramel.
  • Café Chantant by Nobile 1942: sour cherry, heliotrope and vanilla, powdery and gourmand.
  • Latte di Cherry by New Notes: irresistible milky cherry.

How to wear a gourmand perfume

Gourmand perfumes are generally persistent: two or three sprays are enough. They flourish in cold weather and in the evening. For summer, consider lighter fruity or coconut gourmands.
